WOW! Women’s Only Weekend
Friday 5th - Tuesday 9th May 2017 - 4 Nights
An opportunity for women who enjoy cycling to get together to improve fitness and stamina in a relaxed 'social' environment. Improve or be introduced to Alpine climbing and descending during this fairly challenging 4 days of riding in the Vercors. Spectacular climbs, breathtaking descents with rolling and flatter roads in between.
...The setting is exceptional with comfortable rooms, an amazing grange to relax in and an exhilarating splash pool to cool off. We are not the most serious of cyclists and found the area challenging but Dom our guide was fabulous, he ensured our cycling was testing but fun. The scenery was breathtaking. It was a fantastic girls long weekend break, I would thoroughly recommend it. Louise E. Amersham. 2016.
The week is aimed at women who are either regular cyclists or come from other sports with a fairly good level of fitness who want to enjoy cycling in a cycle friendly environment on roads that are well surfaced with low levels of traffic and courteous drivers. Its a legal requirement for drivers to pass cyclists' at 1.5m, so you can relax without the thought of being 'squeezed' off the road. To boot, it really is one of the most spectacular cycling regions of France.
Each day you will be accompanied on a ride with the aim of building your confidence and cycling fitness as the week progresses. Dominic is an accomplished guide and a great motivator. His daughters and wife are talented riders and his son is Elite level...so it runs in the family.
The terrain is ever changing and always exciting; the routes are along awe-inspiring limestone cliffs, mountain meadows, spectacular valleys, waterfalls, walnut groves, rivers, magnificent medieval villages and the agricultural rolling hills of the Drome. The limestone gorges climb up to mountain villages (1600m) where time has stood and the descents include some of the best in Europe, including the spectacular.
The town of St.Jean-en-Royans is charming and captures the essence of a 'real French town' with its choice of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a weekly market offering local products including cheeses, honey, fruit and vegetables. Choose from 3 bakers or visit the artisan patissier...
Whether you are training for an event or just want to
put in the miles and make general all round improvements to fitness and cycling
