2010 Tour de France

Saturday 10th-17th July 2010

Unfortunately, the Tour bypasses the local cols in The Vercors this year, but if you want to  explore the region with 2 opportunities to experience the atmosphere of the tour this may be the time to visit us.  Valence is 40kms and we offer you the option of cycling or being transported with bike for the finish on Thursday 15th July of Stage 11 Sisteron - Bourg les Valence and the start of stage 12 Bourg les Valence - Mende.

tour ventoux 2009This stage finish is a first for Bourg-lès-Valence, now on a par with its great neighbour Valence that also hosted only one stage of the Tour, in 1996. Bourg had a practice run in 2009 by hosting the start of a time-trial on the Dauphiné Libéré, won by Bert Grabsch; the reigning world champion outshone Cadel Evans and David Millar here. The town boasts a dynamic club, the Sprinter Club: Christophe Edaleine, the former professional cyclist who participated in three Tours between 2002 and 2004, is a member.

Experience the carnival atmosphere of a stage start and then set off for an accompanied ride.

This 97th edition features another major first-time stage: Bourg-de-Péage, the former “felt-hat” capital. The town has also hosted two stages of the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, including a time-trial, won in 2006 by David Zabriskie, winner of the Tour Prologue in Noir moutier the previous year. The Tour passed through Bourg last year during the stage from Bourgoin-Jallieu to Aubenas. This week will be based on the Dunne Roaming itinerary.
